Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela served 27 years in prison, split between Robben Island.
When Nelson Mandela died he was 95 years old.
He was born in 1918 and Nelson Mandela died in 2013.
In school, Nelson Mandela's studied law and became one of South Africa’s first black lawyers.
He was arrested and imprisoned in 1962, and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to overthrow the state following the Rivonia Trial.
